During your time on the programme you will Learn the subject, See it in action and Do it yourself through an exciting Challenge:

Learn

Learn like you’ve never learnt at school before. Discover the key concepts, theory and practical applications of mathematics in a hands-on, interactive way. You’ll take part in small, dynamic classes led by our brilliant tutors who are subject experts from world-class institutions.

Do

On your “Challenge” you’ll put all the theory you’ve learned into practice and apply your knowledge to a real life problem. It’s not the only practical activity you’ll do on your course – the course is full of opportunities to apply your skills – but for many of our students, it’s their highlight!

Your task is to crack the fiendishly difficult Code Breaking Challenge. You’ll need to unlock a series of boxes placed around Oxford. Each box is locked with a code that you will need to work out by solving the mathematics problem contained in the previous box. The first box has been opened for you. Each box gets progressively more challenging. You have four hours to unlock the secret contained in the final box. Will you be on the winning team?

See

You’ll meet our “Heroes”, young professionals who have studied mathematics and gone on to build a successful mathematics-related career. Discover what steps they took to realise their potential, and how you can too.

Experience Mathematics Testimonials

This experience was so incredible that I don’t think I’ll ever forget it; I can honestly say it was one of the best summers of my life and a truly life-changing experience. Haikal, my maths tutor, encouraged all of us to try our best and showed us what maths at uni is really like. This was incredibly useful as there’s a large difference between maths at school and maths at uni. Combining these lessons with the support of all the staff at OSA, especially the Activity Coordinators who were students themselves, gave me the courage to apply to study maths at uni. The whole setup of the camp gave me a great feel for what studying in Britain would be like, so when I started my mathematics course at the University of Bath, I felt prepared in a way that others weren’t. The amazing multicultural environment at OSA was also fantastic, the small group of students meant that we ended up feeling like a family by the end of it and four years later, I’m still in touch with students across the world. Thank you OSA for such an incredible experience! I loved it so much!
Jessie Hewison
