Monday marked the beginning of classes, and an introduction to the typical schedule of the summer school mornings. We then headed off on tours of Oxford, tapping into the local knowledge of our activity coordinators to learn about the city and University. Tim’s group were treated to an impromptu performance on the organ in Exeter College, whereas Angus’ and Ade’s groups enjoyed a semi factual/semi fictional tour around the city. For those still wondering, the Radcliffe Camera is not named after Daniel Radcliffe, in spite the many connections between Oxford and Hogwarts. After the tours, everyone split into their teams to complete a treasure hunt in the centre city testing their wits and foot speed. The evening was topped off with dinner at Maxwell’s and the best ice-cream in town, at G & D’s. After a long day of exploring everyone returned to the accommodation, heading to sleep.
