The first day of the summer school was finally here, and some very excited and smiling students from all corners of the world arrived at the Oxford Scholastica Academy. All throughout the day students were welcomed by OSA staff into St Thomas’, St George’s, and Lampl buildings.
After settling into their accommodation for the coming weeks, some students and their parents ventured out to explore the city of Oxford. With all three OSA accommodation buildings located near the Oxford Castle, there was plenty of choice as to what to see in the area. Some groups of students and their families walked to Christ Church Meadows to get a glimpse of the Harry Potter-esque buildings, whilst others strolled down Broad Street towards the Radcliffe Camera and the Covered Market. A few even picked up some of the famous Ben’s Cookies.
After sightseeing, many students and their parents headed over to the rooftop terrace of the Malmaison Hotel where they were greeted by cold drinks and fantastic views of Oxford. By six o’clock the students said their final goodbyes to their families and were ready to enjoy a barbecue dinner and ice-breaker games on the terrace.
Nora was our Rock Paper Scissors champion, and Sophia and Madison won the award for the least accurate communication in the Telephone Game.
It was an exciting but long first day, and following a fun evening of getting to know each other, everyone was eager to get a good night’s sleep.
