By the third day of the summer school, strong friendships were already developing among the students. Everyone was getting settled into their daily routines and the foundations had formed for a memorable summer at Oxford Scholastica!
The day started off with an exciting morning of classes delving deeper into their first proper topic of the courses. JanHugo had his first introduction to calculus in his Engineering class, and Sarah was already thinking about designing her psychology experiment for Saturday’s Psychology Challenge. Following lunch, students in each house gathered together to attend the first Masterclass of the summer school: Resilience. Students learned various techniques to deal with stress from university medical students, including mindfulness and meditation.
After dinner, students were treated to their first authentic outdoor Shakespearean play in Oxford. The Oxford Castle was the perfect setting for the comedic play, Much Ado About Nothing. The play is considered one of Shakespeare’s best comedies, as it combines serious topics like honour, politics, and reputation with elements of robust hilarity. Saahas was especially excited to see the play, as he has studied it in school, and Lara, Shehrbano, Nora, Camille, Juliette and Ginger even got to participate in the action when they were recruited into the Constable’s Service. After the play, everyone was excited to return home and get ready for a day of punting tomorrow!
