Are you considering studying International Relations at university? Do you want to find out more information about what courses at different institutions are like, to find out which might be best for you?

We know that the content of courses can vary quite a lot between different universities, so we want to help you access real-life student experiences, so you can make the right decisions about your future!

Here’s Verena, taking you through what it’s like to study IR at the University of Groningen, how it feels to be an international student in the Netherlands, and how the application and assessment processes differ from UK universities.

Verena Swarzfischer is an International Relations student, currently studying at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Born in Germany, Verena and her family live in Switzerland, and she chose to go to a Dutch university partly because her mum suggested it! In her spare time she is heavily involved in her university’s branch of Amnesty International, and plans to set up her own business in the future, doing something that will help people.

Verena worked for OSA as our Operations Officer in 2018.
