For the final day of the summer school our students got the opportunity to celebrate all of their achievements, friendships and time spent together with our very own graduation ceremony. Many parents also joined us for the occasion at the Nelson Mandela Lecture Theatre in Oxford University’s Said Business School, with our students receiving their certificates for completing the summer course.

During the ceremony our students were reminded of memorable high points of their time with us, when our amazing student speakers gave us a collection of wonderful speeches about what they had learnt from their summer and the friendships they had made. Our Heads of House followed with some touching words about their students, and the families they have become, but the tone could not become too nostalgic, as they ended with some funny House Awards to stop anyone getting too sad!

After reminders from Susanna and Shannon about the huge amount of alumni support we’d love our students to take advantage of, the summer course was summed up by a video made up of clips from all the different activities students have taken part in over the last two weeks, which left everyone remembering the great times they’ve had.

The evening was concluded with a final barbecue, and the opportunity for students to finish their time with us by learning another old British tradition. The Ceilidh is a traditional Scottish and Irish dance that is performed at social gatherings. Our students took to it in spectacular fashion, quickly picking up the steps and really impressing the team with their efforts!
