Meet our senior team

Jamie Dear BA Hons (Oxon), Founder

Jamie moved to Oxford in 1992. After studying at Oxford University he worked in the non-profit education sector, founding a social enterprise which has raised £1/2m for charity. He is passionate about the transformative impact of inspiring teachers, and has run summer schools for the past five years.

Dr Sophie Dear BA BM BCh (Oxon), Founder

Sophie is a trained doctor with a passion for teaching. She oversees the running of the summer school with her husband Jamie. Sophie studied Medicine at Oxford, and has won awards for her teaching of Oxford University medical students. She is also a keen pianist, gardener and cook!

Mrs Kit Anderson, Pastoral Consultant

Kit is a trained nurse. Her colourful career has seen her act as Housekeeper to Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, and she currently works as a “Dame” (Housemistress) at Eton College, where she has overseen the welfare of hundreds of students over the past twenty years.

Dr Mona Sakr BA (Oxon) MA PhD, Head of Teaching

Mona oversees the quality of our teaching. She studied Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, subsequently working as an English teacher. Her doctorate is in Education & Psychology, and she works as an educational researcher at the Institute of Education.

Pascha Francisco, Matron

Pascha used to be a Matron at St Edward’s boarding school in Oxford, where she looked after hundreds of 13-18 year olds – so there isn’t much she doesn’t know about teenagers! Her claim to fame is that her husband used to play football for Santos in Sao Paulo, where Pele played.

Louise Hudson, Deputy Director

Louise leads the operational side of Oxford Scholastica. She has had five years’ experience working in the conference and events industry. An Oxford local, Louise was born and grew up in a nearby village before going on to read Equine Studies at university in Wales. She enjoys going to the gym and hiking with her dog.

Photis Loizou, Deputy Director

Photis is our primary point of contact for families before and during the summer school. Originally from Cyprus, he studied Ancient History and Classics in the UK, where he specialised in researching the concept of philotimia (honour). In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading and cooking inordinately big meals!

Shannon Miller, Community Manager

Shannon studied Classics at Oxford, where she also enjoyed singing and rowing. Her role is to support our students and parents from the moment they sign up. She makes sure our students feel comfortable before the summer school, have the best time on it and keep in touch with everyone after!

Jana Crucius, Operations Manager

Originally from Germany, Jana is a language enthusiast and recently started learning her sixth language! After a degree in Japanese Studies she moved to Oxford where she completed her MA in European and Business Studies. Jana loves to cook, play archery and board games.

Lavinia Abell, Programme Manager

Lavinia studied Classics at Jesus College, Cambridge. She loves working in ‘the Other Place’ now, even though she feels it’s a bit of a betrayal given the rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge! Outside of work, she loves travelling, playing netball, swimming and daydreaming in coffee shops.

Susanna O'Brien, Programme Executive

Having graduated in Psychology from Oxford, Susanna studied for an MPhil in Education at Cambridge, though her loyalties still lie here (especially in the Boat Race!). During her time in Oxford she competed for Teddy Hall in Netball, Dancesport and even Croquet cuppers and was Captain of Coxes for her college boat club.
